NYPTA's Committees

Legislative & Advocacy Committee

The Legislative & Advocacy Committee serves as NYPTA’s voice at the state and local levels, advancing policies that support and strengthen public transportation across New York. The committee monitors legislative activity, identifies key issues impacting transit systems, and develops advocacy strategies in coordination with NYPTA leadership. Members play an active role in shaping messaging, engaging with policymakers, and supporting initiatives such as Transit Awareness Day and ongoing grassroots outreach efforts.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee provides oversight and guidance on the financial health and sustainability of the Association. This committee works closely with staff and leadership to review budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure responsible fiscal management. The committee also supports long-term financial planning, evaluates revenue opportunities, and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors to ensure NYPTA remains strong and well-positioned for the future.

Conference Planning Committee

The Conference Planning Committee is responsible for the development and execution of NYPTA’s Annual Conference & Expo. This group collaborates with staff to shape the conference program, identify timely and relevant topics, secure speakers, and enhance attendee engagement. Committee members also provide input on event logistics, sponsorship opportunities, and overall attendee experience, ensuring the conference continues to deliver value to members and industry partners.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee focuses on the growth, engagement, and retention of NYPTA members. The committee works to identify strategies to expand membership, enhance member benefits, and strengthen connections across the transit community. Through outreach initiatives, member feedback, and program development, the committee helps ensure that NYPTA remains responsive to the needs of its members and continues to provide meaningful value.
