Maintenance Roadeo Print E-mail

roadeoPut your skills to the test while having fun!

The Maintenance Roadeo competition features seven different events including a written test, Vehicle Inspection (Gillig Bus), Detroit Diesel power train event, Cummins / Voith power plant event, Bendix Air Brake System (ABS), Thermo King HVAC, T-2 Multiplex. Each event has planted defects which must be found by the teams and or individuals within a certain time period.

Individuals place finishers and team place finishers will have the opportunity to compete at the APTA National competition in spring of 2010 in Cleveland OH.

We will follow all APTA rules and guidelines for this event.

We will have informational meetings on Friday 11/20/09. Times and location to be given at a later date.

REGISTRATION DETAILS

The application form should be submitted with the registration fee by August 15, 2009. The staff member on the application should be the contact person directly responsible for the Roadeo contestant. The registration fee for the 2009 New York State Bus Roadeo is $195.00 paid in advance. This fee covers the contestant and their guest to attend the Awards Banquet and giveaways chosen by the committee to be given out to all contestants.

All other personnel who would like to attend the Awards Banquet must pay $55.00 per person in advance. The reception will be held at the Honor's Haven Resort, 1195 Arrowhead Road, Ellenville, NY 12428 on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. Click Here to download the dinner banquet registration form.

HOTEL RESERVATION

Hotel reservations are the responsibility of each transit system for its contestants and other personnel. This year a block of rooms has been set aside at the Honor's Haven Resort, 1195 Arrowhead Road, Ellenville, NY 12428 at a cost of $92.00 per night single or double occupancy. Bring your tax-exempt form, if applicable. The cut off date is September 1, 2009. Reservations made after September 1, 2009 will be taken on a space and rate availability basis. When calling for reservations, use NYPTA Bus Roadeo as the group name. For reservations please call 845-210-1600 (www.honorshaven.com), mention Ulster County Area Transit between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Room check in time is 4:00 p.m. Early entry to rooms will be based upon availability. There is a secure room to store luggage.

REGISTRATION FOR PRACTICE AND COMPETITION TIMES

Registration by contestants for their practice and competition times will be held on Friday, September 25, 2006 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the hotel lobby.
If you are unable to register on Friday, you may register Saturday at 7:00 a.m. at the Roadeo site.

PARTICIPANT MEETING - REVIEW OF ROADEO COURSE

We will meet with all registered participants (bus operators) to review the course outline and answer any questions on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at the Honor's Haven Resort.
Committee Members Meeting will follow the Participant Meeting.

SHADOWLAND THEATRE, ELLENVILLE, NY

American Buffalo, by David Mamet, plays at the Shadowland Theatre from September 11-September 27, 2009. Performances are Thursday-Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 2pm.

Here is the synopsis of the show:
They had a plan. Was it worth a nickel? Set in a seedy pawnshop, long-repressed feelings of bitterness and betrayal explode when three small time, inner-city losers plot the robbery of a valuable coin. Snatching this unique coin could be their ticket to the American Dream but to succeed requires skills, trust and action. Will they have what it takes to make their way into a world beyond the fringes of capitalism?

Here are the group rates:
For Thursday nights, for groups of 12 or more, the price is $18 per ticket
For Friday, Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees:
For groups of 12 or more, the ticket price is $21 dollars
For groups of 25 or more the ticket price is $19 dollars
